Technical Support

Foot pedals
– Foot pedals are plug and play, which means that no installation software is necessary to use the foot pedal. The SUM Program software contains all necessary instructions to operate the foot pedal. The foot pedal may work with other WAV files, but HPI offers no guarantee, does not provide tech support, and accepts no returns on foot pedals from "non-SUM Program" customers.

Transcript Answer Keys are included on the SUM Program CD’s enabling students to correct their own work. The transcript keys are password activated. Instructors are required to assist students with this. HPI does not give passwords to students. Please e-mail any questions to Debbie at debcook@hpisum.com and use “Transcript Key Password” in the subject line. Debbie will verify your purchase before assisting with password.

Exams
are available on the BMT2 and STU transcription CD’s. Teachers can select “random dictation” for exam purposes on the AMT. Exam passwords are necessary to access exams and are provided by HPI to schools only. Exam answer keys are available in hard copy only. Contact Debbie at debcook@hpisum.com or 209-551-2112 x 216 for exam questions.

Networking for schools
The SUM Program transcription CD’s are available in both individual and networking versions.

Individual Installation - The individual version requires installing the transcription CD at each workstation. After installation, the CD must be placed in the CD drive when accessing the training dictation.

Network Installation - The network version requires installing the transcription CD on the main server in the computer lab. This allows the student to access the dictation from the individual workstation without having to have the transcription CD in the CD drive.

Curriculum guidelines
are available in The Teacher’s Manual to assist teachers with planning, adapting, or expanding an existing transcription training program. The Teacher’s Manual also includes guidelines for introductory, vocational or one-semester to three semester programs.
