Frequently-Asked Questions:
Do I have to install a special reader to view the PDF document?
No. The email message you receive that contains the download link will provide instructions for the simple authentication process.
Is the electronic book exactly the same as the printed books?
Not quite. While the content is the same, the layout was changed to be one column wide so that it would be more reader-friendly on computer screens and portable devices. This means that the page numbers do not always match up with the print version.
For how long will I have access to the electronic book?
The electronic document will expire after one year, but you can renew it for free when prompted. We do this because the technology vendor charges us based on the number of people who have PERMISSION to access the document, not the number actually opening the document. We need to weed out those who are no longer using the book.
How does the electronic book work?
Your electronic book will be delivered in two parts:
1. A PDF document secured by WatchDox that includes the entire textbook, followed by the questions and exercises for each chapter, then the answers to those exercises. The file is bookmarked throughout so that you can navigate it easily. This file is protected by WatchDox, and cannot be printed, edited, or forwarded. The access link for this document will be emailed to you during business hours following your purchase.
2. A Word doc (in RTF format) that contains just the Questions for each chapter. Students can type their answers directly into the document and print them out. This document will be included as an attachment to an email from ElectronicBooks@hpisum.com.
How long will it take for me to receive the book?
We do not have instant delivery set up yet, so you will receive delivery of the book within the next business day.
